Volunteering England sees the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games as a unique opportunity for volunteering in this country by:
- enabling people to have great volunteering experiences
- strengthening the systems and organisations which support volunteers
- showing the world what volunteering can do .
We have developed this section of our website to pull together information about volunteering opportunities related to London 2012.
We emphasise the information on this website is generated by Volunteering England and is not official information from London 2012, the Government Olympic Executive or other agencies. Some of the links on this section will take you to external websites, and Volunteering England takes no responsibility for the content of these sites.
Through these web pages, we hope to offer straightforward information to help:
- individuals who want to get involved find a range of volunteering opportunities
- organisations which want to develop volunteering opportunities inspired by the Games find a source of support
- infrastructure and volunteering organisations see the big picture.
The 2012 Games is to involve nearly 70,000 volunteers directly in the programme organised by LOCOG (London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games), as well as inspiring hundreds of thousands of people to give their time to build a lasting social legacy.
